Purpose: The Laura Huxley Elder Fund exists to recognize and honor psychedelic elders whose contributions have advanced the history, culture, ethics, education, and community life of the psychedelic realm. Through this program, the Women’s Visionary Council furthers its charitable mission by helping preserve the knowledge, lived experience, and cultural legacy of these elders for future generations.

Eligibility: Within psychedelic communities, “elder” is a status reflecting longstanding leadership, contribution, mentorship, or stewardship rather than chronological age alone. Members of the public are welcome to suggest individuals for award consideration.

Process: Award decisions are made by the WVC Elder Fund Committee in accordance with the organizational purpose of the WVC and fund priorities to support elders and pioneers of the psychedelic realm. The Committee may consider:

  • significance of contributions,
  • length of service,
  • mentorship,
  • stewardship,
  • historical importance,
  • current circumstances relevant to the purposes of the Fund,
  • availability of funds, and
  • alignment with WVC purpose.

Award determinations shall be made only by a majority vote of disinterested members of the Elder Fund Review Committee.

Restrictions: The purpose of the Fund is to provide celebratory and honorific recognition rather than award financial assistance based upon economic need. Grant funds shall be used solely for the benefit of the award recipient. Awards may be designated for specific purposes or provided as unrestricted grants at the Committee’s discretion. Awards are made only as funds are available and the Committee is under no obligation to make awards in any given year nor act on suggestions made by the public. Due to the desire for privacy by some of our awardees, not all awards are publicized.

To donate to the fund, please give via our every.org campaign and indicate “Elder Fund” in the “add private note” field.
